Arkansas Week: Proposed Cellphone Ban in Schools, Agricultural Challenges

We discuss a couple of key pieces of legislation to be introduced this week. Senate Bill 142, the "Bell to Bell, No Cell Act," would require each public school district to create a policy to ban cellphones in schools. Co-sponsor of the bill, Sen. Tyler Dees, a Republican of Siloam Springs, spoke about the legislation with host Chris Kane. Reporters Andrew DeMillo of the Associated Press and independent journalist Steve Brawner shared reaction to the bill, as well as a proposal by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders to implement a work requirement for some Medicaid recipients. We also speak with UA Division of Agriculture Extension Rice Agronomist Jarrod Hardke about how farmers are struggling amid current economic circumstances.
